THE 1468 SUDEBNYK, ITS STRUCTURE, CONTENTS AND SIGNIFICANCE

In the article the author makes a detailed analysis of Kazymyr Sudebnyk of 1468,
which proves to be the first compilation of laws in the Lithuanian-Ruthenian state. The
reasons for its adoption, as well as contents and significant role have been characterized.
The comparative analysis of the provisions of Kazymyr Sudebnyk with the provisions of
Rus’ka Pravda and Lithuanian statute is made. The author comes to the conclusion that
the adoption of this code of law stipulated the beginning of a new stage of legal theory and
practice development, which resulted in the adoption of the three Statutes of the Great
Lithuanian Principality.
